The General Index posted modest gains on Wednesday, in a cautious session with small trading volume.
Even if it was gaining as much as 1.25% during the session, it closed at 2,659.4, up 0.25%, on a total turnover of 156.93 mil. euro. The banking index also erased its intrasession gains of 2.17% to close up 0.21% at 3,554.48. In its composition, Bank of Cyprus, NBG and Piraeus Bank were the only ones to close up, with Alpha Bank, Aspis Bank and Marfin Egnatia Bank being under pressure. Analysts say that today ATHEX registered a wait-and-see session ahead of results and tha trading of Alpha´s rights. 105 stocks ended down against 79 rising, with FTSE20 advancing 0.18%, FTSE40 poisting marginal gains of 0.08% and FTSE80 dropping 0.31%. |
